WATAUGA COUNTY, N.C. -- A newly retired Watauga County Sheriff K-9 needs your help to stay alive.

The Sheriff's Office started a GoFundMe account for Tanner's medical bills
A vet diagnosed the deputy with cancer and had to amputate his leg
His Handler, Wes Hawkins, hopes with treatment, the cancer will not spread and Tanner will be comfortable

A vet diagnosed the deputy with cancer and had to amputate his leg. Tanner starts chemotherapy next week.
