RALEIGH, N.C.—IBM has finally closed one of the biggest deals in North Carolina history.

The hardware company reached a deal to buy “Red Hat software” for $34 billion. This deal has been in negotiations since October.

IBM said the  Red Hat headquarters would stay in downtown Raleigh.

This is the largest acquisition in IBM history.
