The warmer weather has plenty of people soaking up the sun this weekend, including boaters at Southpoint Marina in Penfield.

However, record-breaking water levels continue to impact boating activities on Irondequoit Bay where boaters are required to follow the wake rule at five miles-an-hour.

Choppy waters and floating debris have also raised concern.

"With the wind coming almost directly out of the north, it's got quite a bit of chop on the bay," Joe Uhal of Webster said. "Unfortunately because the water is so high and the 5 mile-an-hour speed limit, it would take us probably an hour to get out to the lake and that's just way too much time to go fishing."

"You know what, you're on the water right? You're on the water, you're enjoying yourself so maybe you're not speed boating and that's unfortunate. But you also have to be respectful of the shoreline and people's property," Ahmed Mustafa of Webster said. "So we go out, you just plan for it. You just plan an extra hour in and an extra hour out."

The Director of Operations at Southpoint Marina is urging anyone who takes a cruise to remain cautious of floating debris.
