The Red Wings' new four-legged member helped the team bring home a win on Saturday!
Milo the bat dog trained for months before he grabbed his first bat at Frontier Field. The 4-year-old golden retriever had good weather on his side, assurance from his handler, and cheers from the stands.
"We know we have a lot of fans that love dogs so we thought you know what this would be a cool thing to do," said Red Wings General Manager Dan Mason. "There's been a couple of other minor league teams that have bat dogs, and we said 'Why don't we try it in Rochester?' He's been practicing in front of some empty seats and with us in the front office. So I think he's really looking forward to actually getting a bat from a real player."
Mason said that while Milo will not be at every game, this may not be his last.
