Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo had some big news to share in her State of the County address Thursday: Rochester Precision Optics’s growth in Henrietta will not only save jobs but will add some.
“Their $15 million expansion in Henrietta will save 275 good paying jobs and add over 100 jobs in the next three years,” she said. “That’s 375 jobs to sustain local families for decades.”
Rochester Precision Optics recently purchased a Florida-based optics firm.
That wasn’t the only positive news on the job and economic front.
Software development firm ITX is relocating and expanding to the ninth floor of the Metropolitan Building and Crown Castle Communications, a Houston-based company, will be undergoing a $3 million relocation project to the Riverwood Tech Campus, also in Henrietta.
On education, Dinolfo called on the state to approve an Excel Center for the area, which would allow adult high school dropouts to study, train and receive a diploma on site.
Dinolfo also touted the renovations at the Greater Rochester International Airport, a $79 million investment that added a new canopy, security checkpoint, diner, sports bar and new restrooms. She also praised the first phase of the Seneca Park Zoo’s master plan improvements, including the Animals of the Savanna and Cold Asia exhibits.
The $13 million project secured an additional 200 local jobs, she said.
