Flames ripped through a home on Sabine Street in Syracuse on Wednesday.
The deputy fire chief tells us multiple calls came in just before 11:00 a.m. When crews arrived, the fire was pouring from the first floor. Crews were able to knock those flames down within about 15 minutes as they worked quickly because neighbors told them somebody could have been inside.
"The guys pushed real hard, we made a complete search of the structure twice and did not find anybody inside,” said Syracuse Fire Deputy Chief Barry Lasky. “Later we had found out that the person inside had left the structure and returned to the scene later."
The fire is under investigation. The first floor of the home is heavily damaged, making the house unlivable.
Nobody was hurt during the fire.
