Members of Bills Mafia who arrive to New Era Field in style won't be allowed to tailgate near vehicles this season, but the party isn't over just yet.
The team announced Wednesday there's a new place for fans to party before each home game.
Fans who travel to the game by way of a limo or bus can now opt-in to tailgating options at "Tailgate Village," which is located in the bus and limo parking lot.
"We’re working closely with Tailgate Guys, which is a Bills partner, who have the expertise in fan tailgating and group tailgating," Bills Vice President of Operations and Guest Experience, Andy Major, said in a statement. "They do this across the country at many of the largest colleges in the nation and they do it very successfully. So, we’re excited to move forward with them, and we think they’re going to do a great job with this.”
Permits for the revamped lot must be purchased in advance through Tailgate Guys.
Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard says he supports the team's move to curb rowdy tailgating.
"We will continue to work with the Bills throughout the summer and the season to proactively address items that can make Sundays at New Era Field fun and safe," Howard said in a statement.
