A Rochester man has admitted to sexually assaulting a student at the Eastman School of Music last fall.
Michael Sheppard, 31, pleaded guilty Wednesday to aggravated sexual abuse in the second-degree. He was originally indicted on nine counts, including sexual abuse, attempted rape, strangulation, and burglary as a sexually-motivated felony.
Court paperwork indicates the assault took place September 15, 2018 in the basement of the Eastman Annex in a music practice room. Prosecutors say he was out on parole when he committed the crime.
Sheppard is scheduled for sentencing in April. In addition to sentencing, he will also be required to register as a sex offender.
