Rochester's 311 center helped city's departments respond to Friday's wind damage.

The service known as the “one stop call to City Hall” has refined itself in its six-plus years of relieving Monroe County's 911 of non-emergency calls. You can call for everything from potholes, festival schedules or any city service.

A new computer system introduced in January and trained phone representatives have turned it into what leaders call a “high-performing customer service center.”

"That gives us a lot more data than we can draw from,' said City Emergency Communications Director Michael Cerretto, about the new computer system. "So it's only going to get better."

Those making the call from within the city limits may call Rochester's 311. For those beyond Rochester, the number to access the service is (585) 428-5990.
