A local town judge is making a run at a Livingston County judgeship.

Jeannie Michalski is currently the Avon Town Judge.

She's now running for one of two open seats.

The two current county judges are aging out at the same time.

Both are hitting 70 and are required to step down by the state constitution.

Michalski says her 20 years of experience as an attorney practicing both family and criminal cases makes her more than qualified for the position.

"I have really sat on both sides and covered all areas,” she said. “Every area of law that I will be required to preside over as a judge I have either practiced in or have already presided over."

The term is for 10 years.

Michalski's entrance into the race sets up a potential Republican primary.

Jennifer Noto and Kevin Van Allen previously announced they're running as well.
