Making two starts in 1990, the righthander dominated the International League in 1991. His 10-4 record earned him IL Most Valuable Pitcher honors. He was promoted to the Baltimore Orioles that season and enjoyed an 18 year Major League career.

His 270 major league wins are the most ever by a former Red Wings pitcher.

Edgar Martinez and Mariano Rivera were also elected to the Hall of Fame by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America.
