An arrest has been made into a crash that left one person dead and another injured in Parma.

Officials from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office say 30-year-old Matthew Magar, of Riga, was arrested and charged with aggravated vehicular homicide, aggravated DWI, reckless driving, failure to stop at a stop sign, and speeding.

It happened in Parma at Clarkson-Parma Townline Road at Ireland Road on January 7. Authorities say a southbound vehicle ran through a stop sign and hit car that was driving east. The second car caught fire.

Deputies say 41-year-old Dilek Ogut of Greece died at the scene.

Magar was hospitalized with critical injuries.

Magar was arraigned at Strong Memorial Hospital Thursday, where he's remained since the crash. His bail was set at $15,000 cash, $45,000 bond.

Several residents that live near the area tell Spectrum News it's a dangerous intersection that's been the site of many accidents, but yesterday's was the worst they've seen. Now, they're calling for a light to replace the four-way stop sign.

"It's an accident waiting to happen. The four-way stop should never be there. There was a two-way stop before and a four-way stop now and people run it no matter what," said Joe Marotta.

“We always have a few cars that run through it, but lately 2-3 times a day someone runs through it. Myself, I’ve seen probably over a half a dozen bad accidents here," said Don Samons.

Deputies say there were reports of a vehicle trying to run motorists off the road in the area. It's still unclear if those reports are connected to the crash.
