Through holiday music and dancing lights, creamy hot chocolate and coffee kept people warm at The Roc Holiday Village Saturday night.
Excited about the village, Chris Odenbach attended with his wife and said, “I think this is the greatest thing they’ve come up with for Rochester during the winter time.”
The village is a quaint “European-style Christmas Market” nestled in downtown's MLK Jr. Memorial Park.
“This is all age groups. This isn’t just for the little kids. This is for everybody and the warm drinks are all part of it,” added Odenbach.
With all the venues featuring hot drinks and food, Josh Jones, owner of new business Wake Coffee, is among them. He is thrilled to take part in opening day.
“It’s fun to be here vending but to also take some time to enjoy everything,” said Jones. He says the added warmth of a delicious beverage can make any winter season merry and bright.
“I guess more than anything it’s quite cold this time of year so anything warm is kind of nice to walk around with.”
D.J. Robinson, 7 attending with his mom, dad and younger sister said, “I enjoyed drinking hot cocoa with marshmallows. I’ve enjoyed looking at toys.”
With warming stations, heated tents, hot food and drinks spread throughout the village, organizers hope families will focus less on the cold weather and more on the holiday cheer.
