Lake Ontario shoreline neighborhoods may soon have a local voice leading the international effort to control Great Lake levels.
Greece residents along Edgemere Drive were glad to hear retired Western New York Assemblywoman Jane Corwin was nominated by the president to chair the U.S. delegation to the International Joint Commission.
Corwin was an early assembly opponent of Plan 2014, the IJC plan some blamed for the management of lake levels last year that flooded the shoreline communities of Lake Ontario.
The U.S. Senate must confirm Corwin and two others commissioners, who are likely to review the 2014 Plan at some point.
"My being in there will certainly bring that issue to the forefront," said Corwin.
"She's sharp. She listens," Greece Town Supervisor Bill Reilich said. "She's not afraid to make a decision."
