BATAVIA, N.Y. — Andrew Adeb Said of Port Richey, FL, and Tara Hackrott of Williamsville, N.Y. are in custody after a police chase that started in Henrietta and ended in Batavia.
State police say it started after a report of a larceny at the Sears store at Marketplace Mall in Henrietta around 12:30 p.m. The suspects’ 1997 silver Mercedes was spotted by sheriff's deputies on 390 and a chase ensued traveling onto the Thruway.
The suspects’ vehicle spun out of control after exiting the Thruway at the Batavia exit.
"When they were trying to stop the subject vehicle it drove toward law enforcement, threatening them in an aggressive manner,” said Major Ed Kennedy of the New York State Police. “Shots were fired by a trooper. The vehicle then proceeded to exit the plaza and the pursuit was again initiated.”
He says the vehicle struck a police car as the suspects fled. The chase ended on Kelsey Road where the man and woman got out of the vehicle and tried to run.
Both were taken to Strong Memorial Hospital where Hackrott was evaluated and Said was treated for minor injuries. Charges are pending.
