NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas — The Comal River in New Braunfels is once again open for all recreation, including tubing.

Officials say clean up following Friday’s hydraulic fluid spill has been completed.

Crews from the New Braunfels Fire Department and Union Pacific Railroad worked together Friday to manage the clean up of approximately 30-gallons of hydraulic fluid that spilled from a ruptured hydraulic line.

A majority of the spill was contained away from the river, but some of the fluid was spilled into the upstream portion of the Comal River, causing Friday’s temporary closure of the river for clean up.
