ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Free, healthy meals are available for kids and teens in Rochester throughout the summer.

The Rochester Summer Meals program begins Monday in several locations.

Regional food hub Foodlink says one in five children has limited or uncertain access to adequate food. Rochester has one of the worst child poverty rates in the nation.

Some 30 schools, 22 churches and 13 recreation centers will serve breakfast and lunch all summer, Monday through Friday excluding holidays.

Families do not need to apply. No paperwork is required.

All city of Rochester residents age 18 and younger are eligible for the free meals. Each location has specific dates and times.

Parents and caregivers are encouraged to help kids be a part of this free summer meal program.

The Summer Meal Program served more than 365,000 free meals in Rochester last year.
