FAIRPORT, N.Y. — The Fairport Industrial Development Agency is showing off its new art installation at Thomas Creek Wetland.
The installation includes artistic directional signs, a new butterfly garden and a sundial made by artist Vanessa Sheldon.
The agency says the goal is to make the Wetland Walk and the Erie Canal Trailway more accessible to pedestrians.
Sheldon says her inspiration came from the canal itself.
"I came up with the idea after hearing about some of the locks that were removed from the Erie Canal and I found a scrap metal yard in Newark and removed these stones and repurposed them and turned them into a little piece of Stonehenge," Sheldon said.
The State Canal Corporation provided a $50,000 matching grant for the project.
