After more than four decades in law enforcement, Monroe County Sheriff Patrick O'Flynn is looking ahead to the next chapter in his life.
O'Flynn was defeated in November by Democratic challenger Todd Baxter.
He ends his last few days at the helm recognizing the staff he worked with and the community he served.
"You do get out and interact with the community, and it's been just such a thrilling thing to be able to be involved, people recognize you, you say 'hi,' and constantly have questions for you, but it's always nice to be able to help."
O'Flynn says he is a believer in lifelong learning and is hoping his master’s degree in homeland security will open up some opportunities.
