ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- A woman accused of killing a man by shooting and setting him on fire was arraigned Friday.
Imani Williams, 28, faces second degree murder charges.
Police say they received multiple calls on May 27 reporting a person on fire in Genesee Valley Park.
The body was later identified as 34-year-old David Jones Junior of Rochester.
The judge entered a plea of not guilty on Williams’ behalf on Friday.
The public defender originally assigned to Williams was removed from the case.
“There’s a conflict with the public defender's office," said public defender Liz Riley. "I cannot disclose the nature of the conflict, but both of the defendants will have an attorney assigned from outside of our office, and we’ll proceed from there.”
Additional charges are pending against both suspects as a result of search warrants executed this past Monday.
Williams is facing criminal possession of a weapon, felony drug charges and endangering the welfare of a child.
Police say she had unsecured and loaded weapons and an open oven left on while her 2-year-old niece and 12-year-old son were home.
The other suspect in the murder, 32-year-old Syjesman Brown, has been serving time in Genesee County Jail for criminal impersonation and a parole violation unrelated to this case.
He will be arraigned when he returns to Monroe County.
Meanwhile, Williams is being held without bail and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Monday morning.
