ROCHESTER, N.Y. — It was a record breaking year for The YMCA of Greater Rochester.

It raised more than $2.5 million this year, beating the record set last year.

They say 100 percent of the money goes right back to the community. It's used to fund programs for all ages at 17 locations.

The goal of the Y's annual campaign is to make sure everyone has access to those programs, regardless of their ability to pay.

"So our job, if we're doing it right, is to make sure that we deliver on our promise to get kids from cradle to career, and back, to support the next generation," said James Smith, urban district director.

Smith says one in five YMCA members rely on financial assistance that's made possible through the annual campaign.
