BATAVIA, N.Y. -- HP Hood has bought the former Dairy Farmers of America plant in Batavia, and promises to invest more than $200 million there over the next few years and bring with that 230 full-time jobs.

New York State will give the company tax incentives as it grows and hits its benchmarks, and Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Tuesday that the investment is representative of Western New York persistence.

The Genesee Valley Agribusiness Park was home to a Greek yogurt plant, financially backed by PepsiCo, but that shut down after just two years. The state says that this investment is more significant than that Pepsi partnership with Theo Müller Group.
