IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. -- A restaurant in Irondequoit will soon close.

Keenan's Restaurant on East Ridge Road is shutting down after 31 years of cooking and catering to the community.

The owner, Jim Romano, says the lease is coming up, and the area and times are changing, so he is making his own change to leave on a "good note."

Romano tells us the popular restaurant has cooked up plenty of memories over the years.

“Oh my god, I remember kids, people getting engaged here, and getting married here, 14 weddings here," Romano said. "They actually got married in the building, and when they had children, their baby showers were here. They’ve had their christenings here. They’ve had their birthdays here. They’re growing up and now their kids are having their engagement parties here. That’s probably the most fun of anything else, watching these kids grow up as babies to adults to having their own children. “

Romano says he'll miss the people the most.

The ovens are scheduled to go cold next Friday.
