COLTON, N.Y. -- The pilot of a small plane which crashed around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in St. Lawrence County was killed, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

The Canadian-registered twin-engined Piper PA-31 aircraft came down in a wooded area along Windmill Road in the town of Colton.

The FAA stated that the pilot, Eric Carrier, 35, of St. Gedeon de Beauce, Quebec was the only person on board at the time. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Carrier was flying from Quebec City to Montreal, according to FAA, but the plane crashed more than 100 miles past its destination.
