NATIONWIDE — Pecan prices are reportedly hitting a record high.
A federal report for farmers in New Mexico, Arizona and Texas shows the price paid for pecans is up to $3.05 per in-shell pound.
The previous record price for New Mexico pecan prices was $2.83 per pound in 2010.
Officials say several factors have contributed to the high prices.
Some of those issues include problems with insects, disease and storms which in turn reduces the supply, boosting the prices for other farmers.
