WEBSTER, N.Y. -- State Sen. Mike Nozzolio is not running on Tuesday.

The retiring state senator is being honored for his role in public service.

Nozzolio received the CDS Monarch life transitions achievement award for his work supporting people with disabilities, veterans and seniors in the community.

CDS is dedicated to helping people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Nozzolio says the opportunities the group provides are appreciated.

"A lifetime achievement award you are the ones that provide lifetime achievement to the ones that need it the most," Nozzolio
said. "Thank you for your mission."

Nozzolio is also a Commander in the New York Naval Militia.

Three candidates hope to replace Nozzolio in New York's 54th District.
