The donations rained in for a fundraiser that helps a local animal shelter that saves lives.
Silk O-Loughlin's Restaurant in Irondequoit hosted the Dog Day Fundraiser to benefit the no-kill shelter "Joyful Rescues." It was the sixth year for the event, with rescue animals available for adoption. A raffle was held with some pretty big prizes such as Disney and Daytona 500 Passes and even plane tickets.
Joyful Rescues transportation coordinator Susan Buckman says they feel very fortunate to have a sponsor like O-Loughlin's.
"They just love having our group here and love supporting what we do. For all the rescue groups out there, you can never have too many of them. The need is great. A lot of good groups out there and we all work together to save lives, and that's the bottom line," said Buckman.
The Joyful Rescue Shelter operates in the Rochester, Buffalo and Southern Tier areas. They have rescued more than 10,000 cats and dogs in 13 years.
