ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- When Rochester's House of Mercy Homeless Shelter opens its new facility in the next few months, the kitchen will be decked out from a well-known local restaurant.
The Danielle family, founders of the former Mario's Restaurant announced Monday it is donating all of their kitchen supplies to the new shelter on Rochester's north side. House of Mercy is currently renovating the large building at 285 Ormond Street.
Once it's completed, the new location will include almost 90 emergency shelter beds, a commercial size kitchen as well as room for social work and administrative staff. Mario's Restaurant closed at the end of the year to make room for other commercial development at its Monroe Ave. location in Brighton.
