ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- A popular youth hockey tournament drew hundreds to the area this weekend.
MyHockey Tournaments director Russell Brisson says 1,600 hockey players and family members met at the Bill Gray's Regional Iceplex for the annual Rochester Rumble.
It's the final of six events held in Rochester for the Empire State Tournament Series.
48 youth hockey teams of 8-to-16-year-olds competed.
"Upstate New York has always been a good big boom for ice hockey and the iceplex puts on the learn to skate program and it's only getting bigger," Brisson said.
36 of the teams came in from as far as New York City, New Jersey, Ohio and Ontario, Canada.
It's estimated that this tournament alone had an economic impact of roughly $600,000.
