The Utica Zoo has new babies to show off with two red pandas now on exhibit.

The cubs were born in July and have been in their nests for four months. They don't have names yet, and the zoo expects to have them for at least a year.

Zoo officials say the new pandas give them a way to educate visitors about the animals.

"Red pandas are very endangered, becoming more so because of deforestation," Utica Zoo Senior Keeper Beth Ricci said. "So it's really important for us to be able to represent the species, and we have one of two different subspecies of red panda. And we were fortunate enough by the species survival plan to breed those two."

The zoo says 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. is the best time window in which to see the pandas.
