Sally Poole and Alan Colletta met online six years ago. They’ve been married for four. They love to dance, especially together.

“Oh, there is both physical and psychological benefits. I get out with Sally and just dance and feel the connection," said Alan Colletta of Rochester.

They've been taking dance lessons at Fred Astaire Dance Studios for more than a year. The studio was temporarily closed due to COVID restrictions for about six months, so they are glad to be back.

“You do what you can. You have a great time. You‘ve got the music playing," said Sally Poole of Rochester.

“It gives you together time,” said Colletta.

Dance champion, dance instructor, and Fred Astaire Dance Studio owner Vladimir Triaszin sees the chemistry between couples. He knows that couples who dance together stay together. He met his wife, Alicia, dancing.

“It is a very interesting dynamic especially between couples," said Triaszin. "Sometimes you see people come in and they have a little struggle in the beginning but then they grow and once they start feeling better at dancing you can actually see them connect more to each other. They are much happier with each other so it is just improving their relationship as well. “

If you’d like to give it a try, there are private and group dance classes available.
