FARMINGTON, N.Y. — A Farmington neighborhood is getting itself in the Christmas spirit by putting on a light show for a good cause.
Drivers who roll down Buckskin Drive at night will be treated to a giant Christmas light display.
Bruce Raggi helps make it all happen.
"The biggest enjoyment is listening to the kids yell that Santa Claus is in the window and waving to him and wanting to come up and see him. I've had some kids that come up to the door and wanting to go in and see him," said Raggi.
Scott Maclean, who lives nearby, says this display also serves as a fundraiser for the John F. Russo Jr. Memorial Foundation.
"They take the money that we raise and they split it up amongst, I don't know if it was five or six families and it just helps them out. They do all of the research on the people that are asking for money to make sure they are legit," said Maclean.
Those seeking to donate will be able to do it while social distancing when driving in front of Raggi or Maclean's homes.
Maclean is thankful that this tradition in this neighborhood wasn't stopped by the COVID-19 pandemic.
"We live in a community that has had a very good outpouring of help. Everybody wants to help somebody. It's shown over the last five years. Every year, we keep raising more money," said Maclean.
The light show through Buckskin Drive will happen daily from 4:30-11 p.m. Tune your radio to 91.1 FM when you drive through.
"It's been a terrible year for everybody. This is a little something that people can come out and enjoy and do something with the family," said Raggi.
