HENRIETTA, N.Y. — A new non-profit working to overcome division and divisiveness in our community was helping to hand out food to those in need Saturday.
Uniting and Healing Through Hope of Monroe County, founded by Clay Harris, is comprised of county legislators, church leaders and police.
It paired up with volunteers from the Junior League of Rochester to put together more than 500 food baskets at the RIT Inn and Conference Center.
Those baskets will go out to churches across the county and then distribute from there to those in need.
"We know that across this region, especially with the pandemic right now, there's so many more people in need that never experienced food scarcity before, not just in the city but also in the suburbs. So our goal was to engage across the entire county," Jennifer Dunivent from Uniting and Healing Through Hope of Monroe County said.
Spectrum News is told many of the items and funds were donated.
