GREECE, N.Y. — Libraries are helping a lot of us get through the pandemic. Greece is expanding theirs.
Leaders broke ground on the latest bump-out to the town's library at a time when it’s offering limited in-person service.
The project will expand the children's library by more than 6,000 square feet by adding a new activity room and covered outdoor patio.
Greece says the project will be paid in full with cash and taxes won't be raised on residents.
Town officials tell Spectrum News that the project will make more amenities available to residents.
"When we ask the residents, 'what are the needs of the community? What would you like to see here at town hall?' We listen to that, and that's what we provide to them, so that they have amenities they can use right here at the town hall campus," said Greece town supervisor Bill Reilich.
Greece will also keep expanding its digital library. Look for virtual book clubs and children's story times.
