The Avenue Blackbox Theatre on Joseph Avenue is getting a gift with a Grammy-winning connection.

That gift? A Steinway-designed Boston piano signed by Alicia Keys.

This comes after charity Music Cares auctioned it off, with the winning bidder paying $35,000.

The piano was donated to the theatre.

The theatre's founder says the piano can help some of the young people who go there.

"We have young people who will now be able to connect their musical journey, their performing arts journey to one of the biggest, most famous singers, musicians and artists in the world," said The Avenue Blackbox Theatre founder Reenah Golden.

The piano is on its way to Rochester and should arrive next week.
