There is a new gathering place for the city's youth to have fun, exercise, and interact.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Thursday on the Norton Village community basketball courts at Norton Village Park.
The courts were made possible by Christopher Maher, who led the campaign to raise money and build the courts there.
Maher says he was inspired after playing at other spots in the city.
"I played basketball at Cobbs HillPark and what I noticed was that there was so much more going on there than just basketball," said Maher. "In addition to the people playing there were families there, young kids playing tag, old people bringing their chairs just to watch the younger kids play and it stuck with me."
The courts have already gotten some use hosting a basketball camp last week in which the coaches were Rochester police officers.
