Hundreds of people sat in their cars for part of the day Saturday, waiting to get rid of their old electronics.
The free recycling event at Genesee Social Services in Batavia allowed families to safely dispose of their electronics for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic. Nearly 900 signed up in advance to participate. Sunnking collects an average of 1,100 tons of electronics each time it holds one of these events.
"It really just helps us to get a better understanding of how many people are gonna show up here, so we can keep it a safe environment for everybody," said Robert Burns, director of marketing and digital media for Sunnking.
Sunnking's next event is in Webster on August 29.
