Rochester City Hall kicked off Rochester Pride Weekend on Friday.
City officials raised the rainbow Pride flag at city hall.
The city says this year's Pride events are on pause due to the pandemic.
While events are postponed, one city official says it's important to recognize the progress the city has made.
"Rochester is one of those communities that has been on the leading edge and has been very progressive as it relates to gay rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and we proud of that, but we always have more progress to be made, and I think we should be mindful of that, I think, in the era of Black Lives Matter, and in this very difficult time in America," said Rochester Deputy Mayor James Smith.
