An Ontario County nursing home resident is still waiting for her wish to come true.

One of country music star sensation Tim McGraw's top fans resides at the M. M. Ewing Continuing Care Center in Canandaigua.

What You Need To Know

  • Ontario County nursing home resident Sue Ladd won Tim McGraw concert ticket through Wish Upon a Star program

  • The concert at CMAC was canceled this month due to the pandemic

  • The nursing home is still trying to connect Ladd with McGraw

“I think he’s a good performer. I saw him once before, years ago. I think he’s cute,” said resident Sue Ladd.

Back in January, Ladd was one of four residents who were lucky enough to participate in the Sharon M. Pepper Wish Upon a Star program, and was even luckier when her name was drawn.

Her wish was to see a live McGraw performance that was scheduled at CMAC this month. Ladd even invited out of town family members to join her, but the concert was canceled due to COVID-19.

“I really wanted to see them, and Tim McGraw, and everybody else, so I was very disappointed,” Ladd said.

“It’s been disappointing to have your hopes up and then dash those hopes,” said Kim Kleiman of the Sharon M. Pepper Wish Upon a Star program.

Although Ladd won’t be able to attend a concert, she’s hoping another wish might be granted, and will be able to see McGraw via Zoom or FaceTime.

“You can send him the story, screw HIPPA,” said Ladd.

The nursing home reached out to McGraw’s agent, and has yet to hear back. But the home is hoping to have her wish granted.

“We’re rooting. We’re definitely rooting. You know, I think the concert itself was an opportunity for Ladd to do something that most nursing home residents really wouldn’t be able to do,” said Amy Daly, vice president of M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center.

If not this year, there’s always next year.

“We always have next year," said Daly.

“I would wait for it," said Ladd.
