Part of the soundtrack of our community comes from a man folks call 'Harmonica Pete.' On Tuesday, the music — and so much more — arrived at his doorstep.

They celebrated Harmonica Pete DuPre of Fairport on his 97th birthday. Along with his family, Fairport Fireman's Band joined in. As did Penfield Ambulance, a group he founded after serving as a World War II medic.

"It's been a happy, happy, happy lifetime, to say thank you is not adequate...how do I say thanks to all you?" DuPre said. "I hope you understand, I had a heart attack last month. I'm glad I didn't have it today, because I would have been out of here in an ambulance. So, all I can tell you is thank you."

DuPre says he began playing the harmonica when he was in the third grade. He's played the national anthem with that harmonica at Madison Square Garden and even for the United States women's national soccer team.
