Woodworking students at Hope Academy have been preparing for their holiday sale, where they'll sell some of the products they made.

Inside Hope Hall, you’ll find students perfecting their woodworking skills. While it may be challenging, some at the school say they love it.

"Wood shop has really helped me with my art in a way because I do a lot of art myself. And it has helped me see different perspectives such as 3d," said Joshua Madden, a Hope Hall senior.

Over the last few days, students have been preparing for their annual holiday sale. The students built items such as storage cabinets, chairs and Christmas novelty. Rick Hopp is one of the woodworking instructors. He says the students get excited because the sale teaches them about business.

"It's an actual sale, so they begin to see business, ok, and business skills, and how you can make a quality product. It can be sold and you can bring money for it," said Hopp.

The students in the woodworking program say the experience has given them real-life skills they can apply in the future.

"And the funds raised are used so our kids don't have to pay for anything for the three or four projects they take home a year," said Hopp.

And Hopp says the items for sale are reasonably priced.

"We're looking for the public coming out and supporting us, we really would welcome that," said Hopp.

The holiday sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the school, located at 1612 Buffalo Road in Gates.
