Brighton beat Bishop Kearney for the Class A1 softball title behind sophomore pitcher Ainsley Evanetski.

The Barons used a two-strike hitting strategy and some timely defense to beat the Kings, 4-3 and claim the Section V block.

Evanetski allowed only one earned run and also drove in a run in the first as the Barons opened a 2-0 lead. 

Kearney tied the game on an error in the top of the third but got that right back in the bottom of the inning on a two-run single from Bridget Kerwin. 

Third baseman Molly Wilmot and Kerwin each came up with big defense plays to lock up the title.
