CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. — New visitor restrictions have been put in place at UR Medicine Thompson Hospital.

There will no longer be visitation for COVID-positive patients, unless they meet other criteria, such as end-of-life care.

For newly admitted hospital patients, they can have two designated visitors at a time who are 18 or older once they have tested negative for COVID. They can visit for four hours, but not at the same time.

The birthing center will allow one support person and one visitor before and after labor.

For those requiring an advocate, such as a person with developmental disabilities or cognitive impairment, one support person is permitted.

The new restrictions went into effect Wednesday at 6 p.m.

The hospital says that each visitor is screened at the building's entrance and all visitors are required to wear a hospital-grade face mask.
