ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Monroe County has a new plan to add and keep staff at the Monroe Community Hospital.

The plan will address nurse turnover, creating new leadership positions and increasing pay for CNAs, RNs and LPNs.

It is also creating a pipeline program between the hospital and Monroe Community College.

The hospital's executive health director says she's been brainstorming plans like this since she took the role in 2019.

"We care for human lives in long-term care," said Monroe Community Hospital Executive Health Director Alyssa Tallo. "If our staff doesn't have the help they need, it has serious consequences. I think that just speaks volumes to really what attention we need to put into this."

The hospital and Monroe County already created a new task force to study how to address nursing home staffing.
