Rochester Regional Health is planning to expand the hours for its Behavioral Health Access & Crisis Center to 24 hours, seven days a week this spring.

The director says this move will allow the center to respond to more people in crisis who don't require a 911 call or law enforcement response.

"Our goal is to be that face, and to be that support and to go to the scene of an issue and really engage the patient at the time of the crisis and do everything we can to avoid a higher level of care," said Colin Scantlin, director of acute care services.

Rochester Regional has a number of positions open that it's looking to fill for the expansion.
