CHILI, N.Y. -- Grocery giant Wegmans is helping kids find their way around the store and learn all about healthy meals.

We went along with 4th grade Paul Road Elementary students, who took a field trip to check out the food aisles and every department at Wegmans.

Wegmans showed kids how food is grown, how it's prepared, packaged and what it means to eat healthy at snacktime and mealtime.

"We hope that they get excited about healthy eating and really spread the word on how easy and fun healthy eating can be," said Kirby Branciforte, Wegmans nutritionist.

Wegmans keeps it simple. The visual tour helps kids explore a variety of foods to learn how eating better takes care of their bodies.

"In the bakery, they learn that half of your grains should be whole grains. In produce, you should get five cups of fruits and vegetables per day. In the cheese department, you learn that you should try to get three servings of dairy everyday and in the meat and seafood department kids should shoot for five ounces of protein per day," said Branciforte.

Wegmans offers these free food and nutrition tours to fourth graders at 73 of its supermarkets.
