Tuesday is the first day on the job for new school superintendents across the area.

In the city of Rochester, Eric Jay Rosser takes over as district superintendent. He left a position as superintendent of the Poughkeepsie City School District.

He said he'll spend his first hundred days on the job focused on listening and learning to help strengthen the district.

The RCSD’s Board of Education selected Rosser as the new superintendent in March. He has nearly 25 years of experience after working for school systems in Atlanta, Washington, D.C. and just down the Thruway in Buffalo.

Rochester's last permanent superintendent, Carmine Peluso, left the district last summer.
