ROCHESTER, N.Y. — All Rochester City School District students are returning to in-person learning on Tuesday.

Schools went remote because of staffing shortages. Some students went back to the classroom last week.

Now, students from the 22 schools that remained closed last week are joining the rest of the RCSD students in heading back to class on the snowy roads.

Many of the sidewalks are still waiting to be cleared. Some are blocked by mounds of snow that were plowed off of the street. Pedestrians have been forced to walk in the street in some areas because of it.

Crews have been working around the clock to make sure all roads and walkways are passable.

The district says it’s still monitoring the number of staff absences, and whenever they can't be covered, either individual schools or the whole district will have to go back to virtual learning.

All students are told to bring their Chromebooks to and from school every day. The district says it will inform parents of any changes as soon as possible.

The RCSD had to close its COVID-19 vaccine clinic on Monday because of the weather. A new pediatric clinic for kids ages 5-11 will be starting on Tuesday.

The first 250 people can receive $100 in gift cards after they have been fully vaccinated. That’s $50 for your first dose and another $50 for the second.

The first clinic is Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at School No. 45. Another will be held next Tuesday at School No. 8 and the third will be the following Thursday at school No. 50.
