PITTSFORD, N.Y. — Thursday is move-in day for the class of 2025 at Nazareth College. Students were eager to get their stuff into their dorms with the help of their parents.
Nazareth is requiring students and staff to be vaccinated. The college says 97% of the student body is vaccinated and only 3% have been exempted. Face coverings are required inside of buildings, but outdoor areas look almost as they did before the pandemic.
Students, parents and Nazareth President Elizabeth Paul say they are confident that this will be a good and safe year on campus.
"Honestly I think it's a good choice," said Nishita Kumar, a freshman. "I'm vaccinated and I still wear my mask so anything to keep us safe."
"I'm not too concerned but we'll see how things go, said Nishita's mother Amruth. "I'm sure she would not have wanted to start remotely. She wanted the excitement of being here, so that is a little bit of the give and take."
"By now we take it in stride," said President Paul. "We do what we need to do to protect our community and we just move forward because the education of our students is that important."
Students begin classes on Monday.
