ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Saturday was graduation day at RIT, and celebrations looked a little different from ceremonies of the past.
There will be 20 separate college-based ceremonies this year, and commencement speakers are joining virtually, to keep within capacity limits and social distancing health guidelines.
Throughout the weekend, more than 4,000 graduates will receive their diplomas. Plus, 400 graduates from last year are returning to campus for their walk across the stage, after ceremonies were canceled last year.
As another unique part of a pandemic graduation, RIT is using a robotic arm to hand out diplomas for students at the college of engineering technology.
Spectrum News congratulates all those graduates.
